Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said on March 27, 2026, that Tiger Woods was arrested for driving under the influence following a crash in Jupiter Island, Florida, in which Woods' vehicle rolled over onto its driver's side.

Budensiek told reporters Woods was travelling at a high rate of speed when his car collided with another vehicle before rolling over. Woods exited by crawling out the passenger side. No injuries were reported.

DUI investigators noted signs of impairment during roadside tests, despite breathalyser results of zero for alcohol. Woods refused a urine test and was alone in the vehicle, the sheriff said.

Woods faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

Woods, an American professional golfer with 15 major championship victories including five Masters titles, resides in Jupiter, Florida.[1]

The arrest is Woods' second for DUI in Florida. On May 29, 2017, he was detained by Palm Beach County deputies in Jupiter after being found asleep behind the wheel of his car. Breath tests registered 0.00 and Woods later attributed impairment to prescription medication; he pleaded guilty to reckless driving.[2]

In February 2021, Woods sustained serious lower leg injuries in a single-vehicle rollover crash near Los Angeles, California, requiring multiple surgeries.[1]

Woods has made limited appearances due to injuries, with five PGA Tour starts in 2024 including the four majors.[1]
