Santana retains TNA world title after Maclin's return at Sacrifice
Steve Maclin returned to TNA on the latest edition of Impact and challenged Mike Santana for the world title at Sacrifice. The match had been halted earlier due to injury, after which Maclin was briefly removed from the company before Director of Operations Daria Rae reinstated him.
Rae addressed Maclin before the bout, noting that others in the company had turned against him following an earlier incident with commentator Tom Hannifan. Eric Young, the number one contender, also spoke with Maclin and stated that the winner would face him next.
Santana and Maclin traded control throughout the contest. Maclin targeted Santana's left leg after an aerial attack, while Santana later landed a Rolling Buck 50 and a Blue Thunder Bomb. Maclin survived both moves and attempted to use a table on the outside before Santana countered with an enzuigiri that sent Maclin through the table.
Santana executed his Spin the Block finisher for the pinfall victory. After the match, Santana declared the ring his house. Cedric Alexander, the new X Division champion, later confronted Fabian Aichner, who had appeared at ringside following Alexander's title win over Leon Slater. Aichner stated his intent to challenge for the title and will face Eddie Edwards next week.
